Represent ATL created these recruitment materials after analyzing focus groups of 29 community members tasked with reacting to COVID-19 collateral developed by CDC and Morehouse School of Medicine. The goal was to tailor messaging to the Black community that underscored the importance of COVID-19 testing for individual and public health.
Research Tools
The Alda Method helps researchers pay close attention to their message and how others are responding to it. The Method combines the latest social science research and applied improvisational exercises to support researchers as they develop communication strategies that work for them. This combination helps people build interpersonal connections and trust across backgrounds, experiences, and expertise. This site has professional development tools to assist in increasing engagement and improve ways to communicate scientific findings to lay persons.
Research Tools
Represent ATL is a study through Georgia State University’s School of Public Health with the goal of understanding COVID-19 infection risks in Black and African American communities around Atlanta, Georgia. The study explores people’s thoughts about joining research studies that include COVID-19 testing. The Represent ATL study website includes information about their project and Community Advisory Board.

Community engagement is central to RADx-UP’s efforts to increase COVID-19 testing and vaccination. The RADx-UP.org Resource Library provides tools to aid researchers, community partners, and the public in engaging about COVID-19 testing and vaccines. As of September 2022, there are over 130 resources to view, explore, and download. Some resources are available in several languages including Spanish, Marshallese, and Vietnamese.

The Maine Health RADx-UP Study Team has created these survey and testing reminder magnets for participants enrolled in their at home COVID testing cohort. Magnets are available in the following languages and can be adapted to fit the needs of testing projects in RADx-UP and beyond: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, French, Somali, Kinyarwanda, and Lingala.
