Parent/guardian intentions to vaccinate children against COVID-19 in the United States

DATE: 1/2/2023
AUDIENCE: Researcher, Public
TOPIC(S): COVID-19 Vaccination, RADx-UP Research Findings

The COVID-19 vaccine is available for many children under age 17. Most child vaccination requires parental/guardian consent. Therefore, researchers at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences studied whether parents planned to vaccinate their children and what factors may affect that decision.

In this video library, you can watch and listen as the team talks through highlights of the Causal Loop Diagram Table resource.

We recommend watching the "Chicken and the Egg" video first, which will give a helpful overview of systems thinking and the specific resource, called a Causal Loop Diagram. Once you watch the "Chicken and the Egg" video and have a better understanding of how a Causal Loop Diagram works, check out any of the loops that look most interesting to you.

BCCI Causal Loop Diagram Table

DATE: 8/1/2022
AUDIENCE: Researcher
TOPIC(S): COVID-19 Testing, Community Engagement, RADx-UP Research Findings

The RADx-UP CDCC Building Community Capacity and Impact (BCCI) Working Group collaborated with the CDCC Group Model Building team to create a visual representation of what helps, or hurts, equitable COVID-19 testing. In this resource, you will see a table with visual diagrams and written explanations of the working group's insights into community processes that impact COVID-19 testing.

A causal loop diagram visually represents how different elements of a system or intervention are connected, paying specific attention to how different elements interact or cause one another to change. Rather than just showing one large diagram with all the insights from BCCI about what matters to increase equitable COVID-19 Testing, we have a table that:

  • shows a few elements at a time, in structures we call loops
  • describes why these loops matter with written explanations and quotes from working group discussions

The BCCI Working Group was specifically interested in how misinformation and missing information impact equitable testing. For a walk-through of how to read each loop, check out our video library.

DATE: 11/22/2022
AUDIENCE: Researcher, Public
TOPIC(S): COVID-19 Testing, Community Engagement, RADx-UP Research Findings

El estudio se llamó Oregon Saludable: Juntos Podemos (Healthy Oregon: Together We Can).

Effectiveness of a COVID-19 testing outreach intervention for Latinx communities: A cluster randomized trial

DATE: 11/22/2022
AUDIENCE: Researcher, Public
TOPIC(S): COVID-19 Testing, Community Engagement, RADx-UP Research Findings

The COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately affected Latinx individuals. Compared to non-Latinx White individuals, they had higher case, hospitalization, and mortality rates, which was associated with their low rates of testing for SARS-CoV-2. Therefore, researchers at the University of Oregon studied if tailoring community outreach to the Latinx community could increase the number of Latinx individuals who tested for SARS-CoV-2. The study was called Oregon Saludable: Juntos Podemos (Healthy Oregon: Together We Can).

DATE: 11/10/2022
AUDIENCE: Researcher, Public
TOPIC(S): COVID-19 Testing, Community Engagement, RADx-UP Research Findings

RADx-UP Policy framework for community-based COVID-19 testing addresses common barriers to equitable COVID-19 testing. A policy lever is a tool or approach which focuses on a certain category of policies or practices and is the starting point for analyzing proposed policy changes or interventions.

This short video highlights the foundational components: community engagement, cross-sector partnerships, and regulatory guidance. View and share this individual video, or the compilation of all five policy levers plus three foundational components.
