This toolkit provides tailored resources to the three Take Care, Texas project regions (Houston/Harris County, seven counties in Northeast Texas, Cameron County in South Texas) for the purpose of increasing COVID-19 testing in these communities. Houston/Harris County is a racially and ethnically diverse metropolitan area, South Texas is predominately Mexican-American, and Northeast Texas is mostly rural with a larger proportion of non-Hispanic White and non-Hispanic Black residents relative to Texas overall. The Community Toolkit provides tailored materials on COVID-19 testing, posters, resource fliers (including for unsheltered populations), maps showing testing locations, fotonovelas describing when to get tested, etc. Materials are in English and Spanish.

The ASU Southwest Interdisciplinary Research Center, with community partner Campesinos sin Fronteras, developed COVID-19 public health education materials in Spanish and English for border and transborder populations in Arizona. To ensure these materials are relevant and useful to their audiences, they collected and applied feedback from on-the-ground community health workers on everything from design to word choice in English and Spanish.
