Michael (Micky) Cohen-Wolkowiez, MD, PhD

Dr. Cohen-Wolkowiez is the corresponding PI for the RADx-UP Coordinating and Data Collection Center (CDCC) and provides overall administration, logistics, and strategy for the program.

Professional and Research Background

Dr. Cohen-Wolkowiez is a Professor of Pediatrics at Duke University and head of Pediatrics Research at the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI). He is or has been the principal investigator for a diversified portfolio of research, including grants from the National Institutes of Health, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, various foundations, and industry sponsors.

Dr. Cohen-Wolkowiez’s research focuses on computational and patient-centric methods to advance and accelerate pediatric drug development. He worked for two years as a Scientific Advisor to the FDA, Office of Clinical Pharmacology, and Office of Pediatric Therapeutics. He has spent his career leveraging his training in pediatric infectious diseases and pharmaceutical sciences to build large research programs and accelerate product development in adults and children for registration to regulatory agencies. His scholarly accomplishments include over 150 publications in competitive, peer-reviewed journals. In his current role, he is passionate about leveraging the state-of-the-art thought leadership, science, project management, regulatory knowledge, partnerships, and organization infrastructure of the DCRI to accelerate the output of research programs, networks, and consortiums.
